Carb-Cutter; Blocker of Carbs or a Phony? Rumor has it that there is a miracle weight loss product that slows down the digestion of carbohydrates. These diet pills contain carb-cutter which blocks amylase, the enzyme that breaks down starch into glucose. With this being done, Carb-Cutter neutralizes the amylase before it starts the breakdown. This allows your body to pass starch through without turning it into glucose.
Rochdi Ammar DRE-098-N2 Zaneta summers 15 April, 2014 Eat Healthy! Diet and nutrition form the major determinants of population health. Across America, majority of people do not comply with recommendations regarding intakes of energy, sodium, fruits, saturated fat, and vegetables. The extent to which food is available determines the eating habits. Because food availability depends on an individual’s capacity to buy or produce the food, financial power will determine what kinds of foods one can get; therefore, the rich will access most of the foods as the poor struggle to them or lack them after all.

All told, however, consumption of HFCS in the United States increased by more than 1,000 percent between 1970 and 1990, and a study published in the April 2004 issue of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, concluded that Americans over the age of two consume more than 300 calories daily from caloric sweeteners, one-sixth of their average daily calories. HCFS may also promote weight gain because it behaves in the body more like fat than glucose, the blood sugar derived from other sweet foods. Though, many physicians argue that a BMI of 25 kg/m2 or greater is a serious health issue and needs to be changed for its own sake. I will try to argue that, it is our everyday living and eating habits that influence the way we look in the mirror and this caloric imbalance and lack of exercise is what needs to be changed. “An excess of energy intake over expenditure leads to storage of energy in the form of fat” (474.) A simple calculation stated in “Caloric Imbalance and Public Health Policy” written by Koplan and Dietz. After a survey conducted between 1977 and 1978 and 1994 to 1996, the U.S. Dept.

They make all these health claims and you really have to read the fine print,” says Bonnie Liebman, Director of Nutrition for the Center for Science in the Public Interest. (Harris, Schwartz, & Brownell, 2012) Perhaps the aspect of the attacks against Kellogg that is most worthy of note is the fact that regardless of how inaccurate their health claims may be, it is simply a marketing technique used by many other companies with the common goal of driving profits. Even if such false advertisements are eliminated in the future many more battles are ahead.
After decades of lies and industry propaganda, the truth is finally coming out: junk food kills. Even after the effort of some states to tax soda pop, require healthier school lunches, or mandate calorie information in chain restaurants, obesity rates are still growing. Studies have shown that school organic gardens, salad bars and healthy lunches improve the health and academic performance of young people. Healthy eating habits and gardening skills nurtured and developed at an early age most often have a lifetime impact. A 100% tax on junk food and beverages would help pay for the collateral damages of this industry: the $150 billion in diet-related disease and health-care costs now incurred by the public and taxpayers for obesity and diabetes.
