Snowboarding was first discovered by some surfers who wanting to ride a similar board to surfing just on the snow. The first board called a snurfer was invented by Sherman Poppen in 1965. The Snurfer was created by bounding two skis together and putting a rope at the nose, so the rider could hold it and keep it more stable. Jake Burton was next to try and make a snowboard. In 1969 Dimitrije Milovich started making snowboards, he was the first to actually create a snowboard.

A hoser is a term that comes from the pre Zamboni days of hockey when the losing team had to stay after the game and hose down the ice. B. Can you imagine trying to resurface an entire ice rink by hand? C. Back when the term hoser originated it would take four experienced men over an hour to resurface a sheet of ice. D. Today using a Zamboni it takes 1 person less than 10 minutes.

Winglets When the first airplanes were built, there were many different wing designs. At first, planes had two levels of wings. They called these planes “bi-planes” which was the first type of plane invented. But in the early days of aviation, winglets were not very common. In 1907, the Wright Brothers came up with the winglets concept but called them “blinkers”.
Charles Lindbergh was born in Detroit, Michigan, on February 4, 1902, but spent most of his childhood in Little Falls, Minnesota and Washington, D.C.. He was the only child of Swedish immigrants Charles and Evangeline Lindbergh, but it wasn't until he was twenty years old on April 1st, 1922 he flew his first plane. He then began long years of training and working a job as a an air mail carrier which he did with a biplane he bought which was nicknamed, "the jenny". After growing tired of doing this he learned about and became attracted to the Orteig Prize, which Raymond Ortieg offered $25,000 to anyone who could fly non-stop from New York to Paris. Snowboarding When you look at a snowboard it seems relatively simple. Actually, a lot of thinking and technology has gone into making it. Snowboarding started with surfing. Over time and a bunch of different people, snowboarding evolved from the Snurfer (1965-a child’s toy with a shape of two small skis attached together) to the snowboard we have today. Although wood is not the only material in a snowboard, the wood itself is the most important part as it is what actually makes up the main body of the board.
