I hated going to school and doing my homework ever since I was a little kid. Now, that I am seeing where all those hours of hard work have brought me, I am very happy that my mom yelled at me so often to do my homework. Once high school is finished, college is the next step if you are willing to spend another four or five years in school. College not only prepares you intellectually, it allows you to learn from your mistakes and become an individual in society. It is essential to get a good education but it is just as important to learn about yourself and your tendencies. Without education we would believe everything we heard because we wouldn't know any better. Knowing how to read and write allows us to question what we hear and to stand up for what we believe in. Education brings out the best of us. It isn’t just about learning the facts and memorizing what you learned. It’s about how you take that knowledge, absorb it, and use it to change the world with your intelligence. Higher education allows you to learn from your mistakes and progress as a person. I personally found it very difficult to motivate myself into doing productive things the first few weeks of college this past summer because I didn't have my mom there yelling at me to clean up my room or to do my homework. After a few weeks went by, I realized that even though she wasn't there, I still needed to do everything or I would fall behind and have to face the consequences. Higher education would push me to grow up and make a decision on how I will spend the rest of your life and what I plan on doing with myself. The benefits of education are endless. The personal satisfaction and feeling of accomplishment upon receiving a college degree is one that cannot easily be topped. College education is becoming even more important than it has been in the past. A bachelor's degree is now becoming a minimum
