Aljber 1 Abdalziz Aljber ENGL-102 High Times in Jamaica November 6, 2014 High Times in Jamaica The story High Times in Jamaica is a short story by Richard Jacobs. The story consists of three main characters Scotty, Agnes (Aggie), and Richard. The story is about Scotty and Richard who’s going to spend time in Kingston, Jamaica where they run into a woman named Aggie, Scotty and Richard begins talking with Agnes where she invites them to her house which, they found out is actually a saloon in Kingston which is called Aggies Place at #7 Princess Street. Scotty and Richard soon find out the saloon is not in good living conditions so, I will argue that Scotty and Richard should not have stayed in the saloon instead they should have stayed elsewhere. When Scotty and Richard arrive to Aggies house they notice that Aggies house is actually a saloon that has four rooms, a kitchen, a bedroom, which, belongs to Aggie and her son, and two small bedrooms. Scotty and Richard are assigned the back bedroom which has a double bed and a small roller bed inside which is big enough to make the two of them comfortable when they sleep at night or so they thought. There is also a small bar and an old worn-out linoleum floor. Which looks as if it was built out of old scrap lumber. Outside Aggies house there is a patch of dirt that is surrounded by a fence with dogs, cats and chickens running around and several girls sitting in the sun washing their hair or as Richard explains “The more I look around me, the more I understand this place Aljber 2 is a whore house as well as a saloon. At this point Aggie brings everyone a cold beer where they sit and begin drinking. As the night goes on everyone is drinking beer, and rum and coke having the time of their lives or as Scotty explains “the best party ever.” Scotty doesn’t have to worry about the “best party” ending because there
