High School Vs. College High School Vs. College My first experience as a dual-enrolled college student has revealed many differences between high school and college. There is a great contrast between the two. Behavior, responsibility and attitude are a few areas where high school and college are worlds apart. Some students tend to take their high school education a little less seriously and their behavior results in acting out in class. From my experience in high school, students would disrupt the class, disrespect the teacher and do not bother to participate in group assignments. Children have been attending school for the better part of their lives and seem to get a little too comfortable in classroom situations. Acting out and disrupting the class is just another way to avoid work and, in their eyes, have fun in class. These students seem unaware that their entertainment is at other students’, who want to learn, expense. The disruption is a huge distraction for those who want to get an education and a good grade in the class. The students who act out tend to want to get by with minimum grades. Immature students play a big role in how a classroom is operated and the way the teacher will go about teaching. This normally leads to a simpler and slower pace to the teaching. Teachers spend the better part of the class controlling behavior of the students with little time left to teach the lesson. Interruptions from students, who talk out of turn, harass the teacher, or make unnecessary comments take away valuable time for learning. I have even experienced fights that start out in the middle of the class. With disruptions such as these, it is almost impossible to calm the class back down and return to the normal class routine. Relentless students will drive the teachers to the brink, and it will reflect on the teaching method in the classroom. The mean teachers
