Jocks, “preps”, punks, and nerds are among the most common one would find in a high school. Dividing the student body into these categories can be a little confusing to some people and, in my opinion, unnecessary, but it’s just a fact of life that is to be handled like any other means of classification. Jocks are the athletic, popular students of a high school. They usually play every sport and excel in them. They are usually classified as the “cool kids” and are known by everyone in and close to their school.
North Farmington High School Turner Lotts 12/7/11 4th The reason I love being a student at North Farmington High School is because of the people that attend school. I used to go to Farmington High School my underclassmen years, then I transferred to North for my junior and senior year. There is a huge difference between the two high schools, and it’s unimaginable. The people at North are different then anyone in the world because, their acceptance of everyone, and the happiness students and staff radiate. North was probably one of the best schools I could have ever transferred to because there acceptance of everyone is outstanding.
The largest flaw in this school system is entitled “reward.” This reward that students receive makes them study not for expanding their minds, but for some colorful sash that they will on graduation and a pointless title to put on your application. Just ask Margaret Talbot. She can tell you all about the teenager’s mindset in high school.
Schooling life is a important part to all of the teenagers. Since they start their school life, every day they meet their classmates and teachers more than their parents. The “A” students have good performance in all of the test, teachers love them. But they don't have friends in school nor clubs. Isn't it a big problem we have to worried about?
They should be a support system and be there for you as much as you would be there for them and it’s always nice to have good influences as you grow into adulthood. And finding a friend that will be there to help me on my high school journey is exactly what I would like to find. Conclusively, my high school goals might not be easy but I am willing to take the challenge. I wish to accomplish nothing more than being happy with the paths and achievements I face in high school and in life as well. My standards might be a bit high but as Jimmy Dean once said, “I can’t change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination.” And I am proud to say I am not scared of failing because life is filled with obstacles and obstacles are just frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your
This group is usually your more attractive, stylish, snobbish group. This group normally participates and excels in sports and clubs within high school, thinking that academics are not an important aspect of high school expecting to attend college on an athletic scholarship with colleges passing them through because of excelling in sports. The nerdy, geek group of kids are typically made up of the more intelligent, reading type of individuals who seek solace from within their self. This group is the one that most of your jocks and cheerleaders run to when they are in need of tutoring or a paper written. Your popular group otherwise has no association with them.
Critique of “Will Your Jobs Be Exported” by Alan S. Blinder Starting in elementary school teacher’s begin to prepare you for standardize testing. You learn all this material, and test on it, learn the material… and the cycle continues. Kids who cannot test well drop out or fail and are looked down on by society , kids who succeed pass and continue on and are praised, the question is does that particular style of learning come in handy when all the American people jobs are being exported. According to an article in The Atlantic news paper “53% of recent college graduates are jobless or unemployed” so in the end are we not all equal? When all the jobs of the future go to personal service jobs, will American children only know how to test or fail or to invest all their time into schooling for professions that will not pay?
Katie Gathman Professor Star College Comp 16 October 2013 Pro Co-Mingling Legislation Apart of the typical every day college experience would involve the opposite sex. Usually having mingled classes with both male and female is a good part of the college experience since it gives the opportunity to expand a persons social circle and gives the chance to intermingle with the opposite sex. Some students have come from all boy and all girl high schools, which they may not of experienced the opportunity to socialize and talk with the opposite sex. Saying all of this, I am against the Anti Co-Mingling Legislation because I believe that socialization with the opposite sex will help later in life, having the opposite sex in a classroom does
Ever have that feeling of not being accepted into a certain group you really wanted to be friends with or join. Many high schoolers have been through this. The main high school cliques are the popular groups, nerdy groups, and the neutral groups. Whatever group you're in, it shouldn't matter. We've all been wanting to be friends with those couple of cool kids to feel fully accepted and that you actually matter.
