April 9, 2014 ENG Difference Essay High School and College Education is a very important key in our lives and the process can be very challenging and entertaining at the same time. However, transitioning from high school to college can be challenging sometimes and it is up to the student to be physically and mentally prepare for the transition. Even though high school and college can be challenging and entertaining, they both have lots of differences. The first difference between high school and college is homework. In High School it is fine with most teachers when a student return in their homework late with an excuse such as "I forgot it at home" or "It is in my locker". In contrast to that, in a college setting if you give your professor one of these excuses, they will either not accept your work, or they will take out points from your work. If that happens continuously, the student gets warned and won’t have another opportunity to resubmit the homework if possible. Another difference between high school and college is the tests and the way it is administered. Students in high school take lot of tests and during this process, sometimes the students use their textbooks or notes while taking the test. As a result, it is easy for them to pass the test with higher grades. Usually, there is a test every week or two to make sure the students are focused and studying their materials. Although in College there are more tests, the work is difficult. Students don’t get the luxury to use their notes or textbooks while taking a test. The teachers basically tell the students to study a chapter(s) and in that process assigns a date for the test. It is up to the student to study effectively and get prepared for the test.
