Hersey's Sweet Mission Introduction The title, "Hershey's Sweet Mission", is appropriately worded using a simile of words. Not only does this company purpose to market sweet treats that are soothing to the palate, but it also focusing on a sweet work system that is beneficial to all its stakeholders. This discussion of Hershey's Sweet Mission reveals the core of its values and a proposed challenge to human resource management. This management has the key role of aligning the company's values with its' employees; thus developing a platform for the company's success in handling today's diversity. This is executed through the implementation of a system of training that is based on the company's mission and organizational values. This company has chosen to embrace the diversity of our communities to promote success for the company as well as individuals that make up this diverse climate. Hershey seems to even have modified their values to accommodate the mixture of today's population. The company identified four core values that are their visionary building blocks. These are guidelines to be utilized by human resource management. Recommend the redesign of Hershey's performance management system to appeal to the diverse groups that it employs. Appealing to the diverse groups that Hershey employs is a tall task. However with a methodical approach which involves collecting useful data and positively using the data, the job can be done. A recommended redesign would first direct Hershey to identify the diversity of the employees. Secondly, the company should systematically acquire knowledge of the employees' cultural and ethnic values. Hershey could then develop a campaign which embraces the variation represented throughout their human resources.
