Helping to End World Poverty
      Peter Singer, an Australian author who is famous for his ethical beliefs writes in The Singer Solution to World Poverty. American families in the United States spending all their monthly earnings on unnecessary things when instead they could be helping out people who are less fortunate than they are. Singer says, “I do not believe that children are more worth saving than adults, but since no one can argue that children have brought their poverty on themselves, focusing on them simplify the issues”(372). Children have nothing to do with the outcome of decisions made by adults. In fact, children who live in poverty are usually homeless with no place to go, and as they get older no one to fend for them but themselves. They go around their town begging for food and searching for a place to sleep. I disagree with Singer because poverty does not only happen in America. It happens all around the world; however, some look the other way when brought face to face with the reality that poverty does exist.
      Singer states the obvious how some Americans, actually people in general come off a bit selfish and don’t have the kindness to help out innocent people. Singer makes a good example of a Brazilian movie about a lady named Dora who gets carried away with the thought of making quick cash. Without thinking about what might happen next, she accepts the money offered to her all but she has to trick a young boy to follow her into a place where he would be adopted. With the cash awarded to her she would buy her self a TV. As she was sitting down getting ready to watch some television, her neighbor comes in the room and ruins her moment. The neighbor tells Dora that the boy was too old and perhaps not able to be adopted. Dora was tricked to take the boy to a place where he might have been brutally killed. Perhaps to have his organs sold on the black market. Singer makes another example about a man who had just bought a brand-new Bugatti, but...
