First, a flood came, forcing him to leave his car behind. However, instead of losing faith in his actions, he celebrated having to leave his car behind. Not only did he shed himself of a vehicle, but he also got rid of food, cash, and hunting materials. Another aspect of the trip Chris didn’t take into consideration was how the climate would affect his plans. For example, at the end of his journey, McCandless decides it was time for him to go home but the frozen river he had crossed had now melted and it made it difficult for him to return.
Matt now has a son, a good wife, and an ordinary life; he still has a good family life without going to university. In contrast with Kate, although she has good education and job, she doesn’t have her own family and in fact, she says, “I had never thought I would really love anyone.” (89) From another perspective, she seems to be the one that is going to have a sad life. Similar with Luke, when he rejects Sally it is due to his responsibility as a caregiver. He is happy with his decision since it is for his family. If Matt chooses to go to university instead and leaves Marie, he will most likely lose his happiness and truly be an emotionless “nerd” and suffers like Kate who does not truly knows the meaning of love.
Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer develops many questions in a reader’s mind, one of them being: To what extent is community essential to happiness? The “Super tramp” Chris McCandless answered these questions for the reader through his journal, documenting his journey. Though Chris McCandless was an educated man, he took off on his own with a lack of warning to anyone. Was this decision a display of his unhappiness due to the lack of connection he had with other people or the happiness in his decision to go on a quest to find himself? Chris believed that by going off on his own in the Alaskan wilderness he would change himself; finally know what his purpose was in life.
His Samana way of life is practically forgotten as he instead immerses himself in fine food, fine clothing, and greed. In my life, I’ve learned that my own personal opinion of myself is far more important than any other person’s opinion of myself. Nobody else can change who I am, so why would I let their opinion matter more than mine? Every day, strive to be the person YOU want to be. CHAPTER EIGHT In chapter eight, Siddhartha learns that the skills that used to be useful to him – meditating, fasting, and losing his sense of self—have been long lost due to his infatuation with worldly goods and desires.
Tin Man, whom was searching for a heart realizes that he always showed love and emotion. Although the characters believed they lacked these personas, the journey they set off on taught them that they already possessed the qualities they had always longed

Nothing could stop him, or Penelope and Telemakhos, from all of them reuniting with each other once more. The odyssey is both Odysseus’s adventure story more of literal survival but also of emotional survival. Odysseus shows many personalities of himself including, humility, hatred, anger, love, stupidity, cowardly, bravery, unfaithfulness, and reasonable, but compassion is one personality that is missing in this interesting man. Odysseus does many things in order to live through his adventure home. Throughout attempting to survive this adventure, he is also thinking about his wife and son and what could possibly be happening in his hometown but doesn’t really show that side because he does not seem like a very compassionate
