Healthy and Unhealthy Sexuality Vicki Aldridge Grand Canyon University PCN-530 June 29, 2015 Healthy and Unhealthy Sexuality The purpose of this paper is to discuss the difference in healthy and unhealthy views of human sexuality. There are social and cultural views that can be looked at that may explain the difference among them. The view that one individual may have for a certain sexual behavior may be considered inappropriate for one cultural but not for another culture. This paper will discuss the cultural attitude of each selective perspective. This paper will also discuss the roles that the male and female may express with each perspective. There are historical and contemporary perspectives that will be discussed in this paper. Historical Perspective According to Rathus, Nevid & Fichner-Rathus (2014), “history shows little evidence of universal sexual trends. Attitudes and behaviors vary extensively from one time and place to another (pg.11). As time changes so does an individual’s human sexual needs, they change with the time and what is often the norm for that period. As knowledge is obtained over the years this will play a part in how others are educated as they teach others what they know and believe. History will show how individual male and female roles would change over time therefore leading them into a new era. In the Stone Age male and females were able to communicate about an individual’s sexuality through art with large cave drawings of the female or large clay sculptures of the female with child. The prehistoric time / the Stone Age shows how the male figure was the hunter of game and the female figure attended to the home duties (Nevid & Fichner-Rathus, 2014). The woman does the role of the female by doing duties such as caring for the children or preparing the food. The man does the role of the male by doing duties such as
