Living a healthy lifestyle is very important for one’s overall wellbeing; living a healthy lifestyle reduces risk of developing chronic illnesses such as high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer and ext. In addition, living a healthy lifestyle has the potential to increase our life expectancy. Furthermore, living a healthy lifestyle has the potential to make life more happy and carefree; therefore, it is important for us to find ways to improve or health by implementing healthy lifestyles.Prior to discussing ways to improve our health, we must first define the meaning of health. What is Healthy? Healthy is defined as “possessing or enjoying good health or a sound and vigorous mentality: a healthy body; a healthy mind (Dictionary.com). Since physical and mental health are both significant aspects of a good health. I believe it is significant for me to builder a stronger self-image (Ellis 329). Feeling good about oneself is a key factor in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. When you are depressed and feeling down about yourself, you have the ability to impact your health physically. According to Dr. Alan Thomas those that face chronic depression are more susceptible to heart disease, stroke and high blood pressure. In addition, those that feel depressed are more prone to headaches and though they might not be physically sick, they can make themselves physically sick if they neglect their body’s needs. I have a problem with depression and low confidence; it has been an ongoing battle. One thing I have learned though is keep a positive mind frame and try to stay happy and I will be better off. Worrying about the things you cannot change will only ruin your happiness. This is similar to the process of “Surrender” (Ellis 323).
