Even as a child I have loved the ideas of helping people lead healthier and more productive lives. When I was younger I would ask many questions about the ways things were. By choosing a health career, I will be able to make a difference in the lives of people who are sick or disabled. My life has been filled with various situations that have helped me choose this career. The main influence is my mother; she is a nurse at Mary Immaculate Hospital. Also through out high school I took anatomy and AP biology, these courses were very interesting and I enjoyed taking them. Taking anatomy furthered my interest in the human body and how this amazing machine functions. To get 200 hours of community service I volunteered at Mary immaculate Hospital for two summers. Being in the hospital environment was thrilling; I was excited that I had the opportunity. Being a volunteer, I helped with the nurses in the recovery room with patients fresh from surgery. I was able to see how the nurses talked, cared, and helped the patients in their recovery. What really interested me the most, was what went on behind the doors the patients came from; the operating rooms. Being so curious I asked the nurse manager of the operating rooms if I could watch a surgery, and I was able to see a full knee replacement. Having that experience informed me about the surgical process. Even as a medical researcher I have the spark of curiosity that will push me to discover. Being able to discover new ways to help mankind would be fulfilling. The career options with a medical degree are numerous and plentiful.
