Most schools will send out monthly newsletters so that anything on the website is handed out or put on a notice board outside the school. Through fund raising, school fairs and events held at the school the child gets to show parents or guardians that the aims and values of the school are being carried out. Some schools have a school council made up of the children from classes 1 to 6, who decide on issues that are important to them and also what they would like to see happening at the
Learning Scenarios Byron Stallings EDU 490 Interdisciplinary Capstone Instructor: Benjamin Hegedish January 7, 2013 Each of the following scenarios presents a situation based on a real world teaching situation that you may encounter during your career as an educator James is a first year English teacher in a low-income high school outside of a major metropolitan area. His students are of diverse backgrounds and equally diverse learning styles. As part of his opening unit, he is preparing to teach his class about the tools that authors use to make their writing more engaging. He decides to focus on symbolism, metaphor, and simile. He has already developed a vocabulary handout that defines each word and includes examples, but when he does

Before this interview, I defined a school counselor as someone who provides guidance to help with the development of a child academically and socially. However, I learned this is still their philosophy but their duities have changed. As I interviewed, Ms. Childs a counselor from the Cypress-Fairbanks school district, I truly understood the difference between the role of a counselor and their duties. She has wanted to be a counselor since the third grade. She had an excellent elementary school counselor and always remembered her as being the nicest person on campus.
Assessment 1 Learning Journal Case Study You have been working as the trained staff member in the toddler’s room for the last six months. You work with two other staff, Chris who has been working at the centre for eight years, and Rena who has recently joined your team. The children within your room come from a diverse background of culture, socio-economics, religion, family structure and abilities, including one child with cerebral palsy. Through your training, you were expected to model best practices. You have tried to demonstrate such practices, but recently, you have become aware of how your assistant staff respond to some of the children and are uncomfortable with these responses.
In the primary schools I have mainly been interacting with the Key stage 1 pupils and studying how they act on a daily basis during my work experience I accompanied them on outings and listened to them read and helped with classroom activities. I worked for two weeks on a summer performing arts play scheme that took place in Plumstead for ages 10 to 18year old children. I was responsible for organising activities for them and assisted the team leader with escorting the children on outings. I babysit when needed three children who are 6, 7 and 11 years old. This involves me cooking, cleaning and finding activities for the children to
The student support center helps students at HCC with anything and everything they need. For example if a student is behind in his / her math class, that student can go to the student support center and sign up for tutor. A student can sign up for tutoring as many times as students feel they need to go. Also if the student does not have time for one on one session, they can also get help from an online tutor. For example, last semester Sarah was having trouble in her writing class.
Teachers have several responsibilities as a teacher to the students. Some responsibilities of each teacher are teaching the student, grading papers, make sure that the student understands what is being taught, making sure that the students have grades in the grade book. Each teacher is responsible for each student while at school or a school function, the teacher also has to get the student to understand that if needed the student can talk to them with confidence that they will not be telling anyone. Teachers are not teachers for the pay, most are teachers because they enjoy teaching children or they just love being around children. The pay is set on a set salary and paid once a month, some even get paid for the months they are not working.
All it really takes is for one teacher, just one, to give you the extra push that you need to succeed academically. For me it was my high school history teacher Mr. Zigler. From my freshman to senior year of high school, Mr. Zigler would tutor me in all subjects to help me succeed and to help me get into advanced placement classes as well. Not only that, but I trusted him with everything, it was like he was my personal therapist in school, being that I didn’t have that at home. It was with his help that
Lynn Cox PTTLS Assignment 1 Describe the role and responsibilities and boundaries of the teacher in The Lifelong Learning Sector We are a small community college with a limited team of three childcare teachers, currently between us we deliver, the BTEC Level 1 in Working with Children, NVQ Level’s 2 & 3 In Children’s Care, Learning and Development (CCLD) and NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (STLS) courses, this can change every year depending on the needs of the learners we attract to the college. At the moment my teaching role is to plan and deliver a BTEC Level 1 and a CCLD Level 3 course off-site to the college, and a CCLD Level 2 & 3 within the college. I feel one of my responsibilities is to ensure a good standard of teaching and learning for all learners whether off-site or within the college. Although I also assess learners in order to support them in completing their qualification, as a teacher I also deliver the knowledge evidence required. This seems to work but there are times I feel under pressure to offer support and guidance to them within both roles, this can mean disruption within the classroom so I have to encourage them to contact their own assessors with any queries they may have.
