50 million people, 15% of the United States population, and 5 times the population of New York City, are all equal to the number of people living in the United States without healthcare. With the affordable healthcare act recently being voted on in congress, and the shutdown of the government as a result, the topic of health care in the United States has been a very common and controversial source of conversation in recent weeks. The idea of a single payer plan for the whole nation, beyond what the affordable care act is going to do has come up several times, and it is the best plan for our nation as a whole.
