Research can be collected by different methods such as telephone, mail or face to face interviews. Usually the most used method of collecting research by companies is face to face interviews.
M3 - Assess the different methods that can be used for promoting and protecting public health Assess how these methods of protection and control Promote public health awareness and protect the public from disease. In this essay I will be both describing and evaluating the different methods used to promote and protect public health in the U.K. The main aims of promoting and protecting public health are to improve the general health of the population and to reduce health inequalities within the U.K. The government is a key part of all of this as they have produced many official documents, papers, reports and legislations in order to enhance overall public health. One of these documents is the White Paper which focuses on making choices
P72). The inner layer firstly offers up individual lifestyle factors such as smoking, diet and levels of activity. These factors feature in the Department of Health paper ‘Tackling Health Inequalities’ as a target for reduction in 2010 (Department of Health 2003). As the layers move out they highlight familial relationships and community networks. The analogy of a river to describe illness was developed by McKinlay (Earle, 2007.
Comparison Paper Kimberly Knipp May 7, 2012 NUR/408 Lori Barrasso Public health goes back a long way. Charles-Edward A. Winslow, an American public health leader, defined public health as “the science and art of preventing disease, prolonging life, and promoting physical health and efficiency through organized community efforts for the sanitation of the environment, the control of community infections, the education of the individual in principles of personal hygiene, the organization of medical and nursing service for the early diagnosis and preventive treatment of disease, and the development of the social machinery which will ensure to every individual in the community a standard of living adequate for the maintenance of health” (Winkelstein Jr., 2002). Today, the definition remains the same, although some may add the mental and physical aspects of health as well. This definition provided has lasted throughout the years and in 1948 the World Health Organization used it to provide the definition of health: "A state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity" (Winkelstein Jr., 2002). Although health was always a concern including in ancient times, during the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, also known as the Renaissance period, public health became a major issue due to the bubonic plaque.

There are several steps that states can take to control costs, such as wellness programs that address long term chronic illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension, obesity, and cancer prevention(education about sun exposure, smoking and nutrition). These programs could establish interventions ,education, information sharing, set guidelines, and monitor outcomes. To do this, they could use health screenings which involve community support from local hospitals and health care workers who volunteer to screen for hypertension, diabetes, colon cancer, smoking cessation counseling and support, and weight loss information. I believe this is an area that could drastically improve and has tons of potential.
