Effective communication is important to get information from patient or staffs. Actually experience, skill, condition of the patient, health care environment, and the system of communication plays an important role for the treatment of the patient. Communication skills are crucial in the health care setting. Usually right after we visit the patient for the first time, we can figure out his or her mood and general health condition. According to that we can investigate the problem and take action to resolve it.
“Why are health care professionals required to gain consent before providing treatment and care” Health care professionals are required to gain consent before providing treatment and care to every patient in both the public and private health care setting. Consent is a voluntary agreement with an action proposed by another. The person must be of significant mental capacity and be in possession of essential information about the procedure in order to give valid consent. Informed consent is given based on the principles of autonomy and privacy whereby the patient must be informed of the risks benefits of the procedure, which will take place. Informed consent could be implied, explicit, verbal or written.

June needs to be told what may happen without the feeding tube and what can be expected with the feeding tube. June also has a right to have her health information kept confidential, with information given only to those she designates as being allowed to have her health information (Showalter, 2008). It is noted that in the absence of a progressive terminal disease, the feeding tube may be used to prolong life and since the patient is not dying of another cause, discontinuing the feeding tube would imply a desire to cause the patient’s death.

There are different types of communication from verbal communication to non-verbal communication. Verbal communication occurs when one person speaks and the other person listens, this can happen in a one-to-one spoken communication between individuals, spoken communication within groups of people and in other ways. Care workers need a range of verbal communication in order to find out about an individual’s problems, dealing with complaints, provide support to others etc. Effective verbal communication is a two-way process speaking and listening must occur.

The knowledge and utilization of effective communication among professional health care providers directly effects their patient health outcomes. It allows health care professionals to obtain and share crucial data, teach and express their thoughts and concerns. It is a mode of transportation to utilize knowledge and convey a plan of action for progress and improvement. It is a way for professionals to embody and project change, to make a difference.
Identify the different reasons people communicate People communicate in order to give instructions, to acknowledge they have understood an instruction, to share information, to build relationships with people and to share opinions, knowledge, emotions and to give encouragement and advice. As a carer I am required to communicate with colleagues, clients, client’s families and medical health care professionals whilst at work. I am required to communicate effectively with others to ensure I am meeting the needs of the client, when booking appointments for the client with medical professionals and with the client’s family about any quiries and updates they require about the client. I am also required to communicate regularly in writing when carrying out tasks such as documenting information in communication books and various charts such as food and fluid intake monitoring, documenting any medication that has been handled and filling in timesheets. The term Narrative relates to the connection of various events in an order for the listener to understand. Narrative can be used within various media sector and professional fields. Narratives play a very important role within the health and social care settings. It can be argued that the patient’s narrative assists the physician and other healthcare staff which include nurses to understand the nature of the condition, treatment or process.
. A nurse’s perceptions about quality of life and health promotion could affect the care of a dying patient with a lingering illness, such as cancer. Nurses are patient advocates and it is their responsibility to respect patients’ wishes regardless of their personal opinion. A nurse may personally feel that a patient should use any and all medications available to them such as pain medication, etc. during a lingering illness.
