Where Individuals use avocates to enable them to express their views , wishes , or feelings and to speak on their behalf the term individual with in this standard covers the individual and their advocate or interpreter . 1.3 Question : Describe ways to resolve any difficulties or dilemmas about the choice of food and drink Answer : However , there are some ways that you can resolve these difficulties and dilemmas one of these ways is reporting them to your manager or senior manager of staff who is on shift . You should also try and explain to the individual why they have to have that food . Examples : An individual with diabetes like to eat sweet puddings - provide puddings that are tasty but more healthy eg fat-less sponge and fruit . An individual doesn't like drinks and is in danger of becoming dehydrated - provide meals that are high in liquid content e.g soup . 1.4 Question : Describe how and when to seak additional guidance about an individual's choice of food and drink Answer : You would need to ask if there are foods that should be avoided , due to allergies , dislike , diet restrictions , religious reasons ect , so that an appropriate diet can be prepared . If you notice that an individual is consistently refusing to eat a certain food you might ask why he or she is not eating it. If you get a reply that is related to the cooking and preparation of food or dislikes or preferences , it is generally more
