IT Project Implementation Errors Jan Smith HCS 483 June 18, 2014 IT Project Implementation Errors There are many types of organization changes such as having a step-shift change, radical change, fundamental change, and incremental change (Wager, Lee, & Glaser, 2009). An organization must have a step by step process for implementing a new machine in the workplace. Whether it is a minor or major change, the organization must be ready and prepared of the consequences for adding or changing another component in the workplace. There are many roles and responsibilities involved when implementing a new machine. Some roles would include a business sponsor, business owner, project manager and IT manager (Wager, Lee, & Glaser, 2009). The responsibility of business sponsor is the person who is liable of the new IT machine, funding resources as well supporting the team with a new challenge in the work place. Business owners are the ones that have the final say on the new machine that will be implemented, as well as working with the project managers on the project. The project manager has a huge role such as resources, give timelines, communicate with the stakeholders about the progress of the project, and basically managing the project. IT managers make sure all the electronic networks are working correctly and help solve any issues or problems the business might have with the electronics. The case study on Mason Hospital, they established a team and established goals to implement the CPOE system. In St. Luke’s Hospital, the facility just had three phases to implement an EMR system. St. Luke’s failed to establish guidelines on implementing the EMR system. However, Mason Hospital did have guidelines and goals which were met to have a successful CPOE system (Wager, Lee, & Glaser, 2009).
