It is important for an organization to establish communications within the organization and also establish communication lines to the public. To avoid multiple messages being sent out, the organization should establish a spokesperson that would speak out to the media and have any questions directed to. In a time of crisis the organization must be detailed and structured on how it handles and reports emergencies, also taking advantage of today’s technology by using its website or social media page to provide consistent updates
Before implementing risk controls, you need to assess the potential effectiveness and possible consequences. You should then suggest a realistic and acceptable time frame for implementation of controls and ensure that deadlines are complied with. Employees should also be consulted as they might have good ideas of what can be done to reduce the likelihood of injury or damage. Also when controls are to be implemented, organizations should communicate proposed plans to affected employees via a form of specific training, staff notices or the revision and a public workplace statement of revised standard operating procedures. It is important to identify and implement WHS procedures and instructions to keep aware of Possible hazardous occurrences, and to be on top of workplace WHS.

During major incidents it is important that responding agencies communicate and work together in order to effectively and efficiently deal with the incident this can be done in the following ways: Liaison Officers – liaison officers are members of the public services who are responsible form communicating with the other services as well as and sharing information between them. Liaison officers coordinate training days where the public service train together in order to improve their performance. Training days – organized training days where a simulated incident takes place allows the service to train and prepare for major incidents and outline any problems or areas that they need to improve on. Training can improve performance and response times. Emergency Plans - Emergency Plans or Contingency plans are a series of clear instructions on how responding agencies respond to a major incidents, each agency will have Contingency plans on how to respond to different types of major incidents.
