Task 3: Describe with examples the kinds of influences that affect children and young people`s development including: a) background b) health c) environment a) Some children don`t experience a lot of support at home. Parents/Carers use the TV or Computer as a “babysitter” and don`t spend a lot of quality time with their children. Those children will fall behind in their development. Children need interactions with adults and other children to learn social and language skills. On the other hand there are parents that are very protective over their children.
I was able to talk with some teen moms about their experiences of having a baby. I received some negative feedback, such as not being able to do the things I normally would do at sixteen and the responsibly I would have as a teen. I had a high chance of becoming a statistic in teen pregnancy by living in poverty and my child having issues when he got older because he would not have a father. The positive feedback from the teen mothers was encouraging. She told me how the love and bond between mother and child is so strong that you can overcome anything.
Aly DiNardo 1/10/11 Baby Project Overview By doing the baby project in health, I learned much more than what it’s like to have a baby. I learned about how much it costs and also how much time it can take out of your life. The main part of this project made me realize that having a baby in high school is not the best idea if you want to have a good future. One of the main issues about having a baby is responsibility. When you’re a young adult, you mainly have time for school, work and your friends.
Families often had less numbers of children as a cause of the reduced rate of the rates of mortality of infants, and also often strove to provide their children with opportunities in the world that they themselves never had, which is a concept that modern families have too. Married couples increasingly used contraceptive devices such as condoms to so that they can reduce the possibility of any unwanted pregnancies. At times, the care and concern of parents for their older children became very obsessive, so much so that children began to feel confined and began to have a need for greater independence. Prevailing biological and medical theories had led parents to think that their own emotional traits that they exhibited to be passed on to their children; therefore, they began to think that they were personally responsible for any abnormality that their children presented. This preoccupation of
In the instance that a mother is abusing drugs and applying for welfare, she probably isn’t adequately caring for her children in the first place due to the drug usage. Denying welfare assistance because she is on drugs only puts more of a burden on the children. As social workers, it is our responsibility to ensure that, first and foremost, the most important social needs are being met before thinking about other social problems like drug usage and allocation of tax
The lack of education leads to further development of barriers such as a financial barrier and poor lifestyle that makes them unable to provide for themselves and their child. Most jobs that do not require a high school diploma only offer a minimum wage and do not offer adequate benefits to meet all medical needs. “key indicators of health, infant mortality rates and low-birth weight rates, were elevated when infants were born to mothers who were less educated” (Flores et al,1998). Considering that statement I believe that the biggest barrier affecting this vulnerable population’s health is education. Vulnerable mothers that do not finish getting their education become discouraged and loose the motivation and drive to tackle the oncoming challenges that life brings, creating for them another barrier on the micro level; it being a financial barrier.
Baby Pills Health is the most important key needed to bring a new life into the world. Sadly some women do not take them. Prenatal vitamins offer a vast majority of benefits to both mother and baby. Most everyone has heard of birth defects and how harmful they are to a defenseless baby. Taking a pill everyday could greatly diminish the risks of neural tube defects and autism.
As mothers, especially for the first time, our life are turned completely upside down. It can cause us to go through extreme crisis change. If is not treated the proper way, it can cause major problem on how our baby can develop cognitively and emotionally. Research has shown that mothers who suffer from postpartum are less sensitive to their babies than mothers who do not which can cause the infant to pretty much give up on the world and feel that it is a very
Then years after that, she had two of my little brothers and then had another two more after that. My mother didn’t do what she wanted but accomplished a lot with us, because she raised me well. Getting pregnant at a young age is a hard thing to handle. I personally watched my mother as a young child struggle and work to provide for us. Its forces you to become an adult a mature at an instant to provide for yourself and sometimes that can break some teens that aren’t strong or who don’t have a good self
