George Bergeron appears as Harrison father in the story Harrison Bergeron. George was chosen because of his important role in the story. He was a guy with a physically strength which makes him somebody to like. He cannot be identified at any level. A person such as George cannot be compared to anyone. George is revealed as the father of Harrison Bergeron and the husband of Hazel Bergeron. He was an intelligent man with a handicap. “And George, while his intelligence was way above normal, had a little mental handicap radio in his ear.” The examples show that he is a man that has a handicap but is still and intelligent person even thought he had something holding him back. George changed because he tried to fight the transmitter but couldn’t; he tried to think about the ballerinas. “George was toying with the vague notion that maybe dancers shouldn't be handicapped. But he didn't get very far with it before another noise in his ear radio scattered his thoughts.” Even though the government is taking advantage of his brain he is still thinking about what could be the outcome could be. Towards the end of the story George had speculative nature, he wasn’t bold. He was a man that obeys laws and avoids risks. He is emotionally innocent, lacking his son that is on a televised adventure. “A police photograph of Harrison Bergeron was flashed on the screen-upside down, then sideways, upside down again, then right side up. The picture showed the full length of Harrison against a background calibrated in feet and inches. He was exactly seven feet tall.” The future holds a lot for Mr. George Bergeron because he was such an intelligent guy even though he had a handicap. Throughout the story the author portrayed, that he is very smart and sensitive but has been crippled. George is mentally and physically gifted, and also spiritually unremarkable. It is unfair to Mr. Bergeron
