Gun Control It all started with men fighting by sword. For centuries, swords were the weapon of which man died from in battle. Until at some point within the early medieval times, firearms were created. Mostly handheld firearms, it actually wasn’t perfected until the 16th century. The oldest evidence of a form of firearm was in China from the 1000’s. Firearms didn’t spread to the European, Arabic, and other countries till about the 1300’s and 1500’s. The Chinese had used black gun powder and bombs when The Mongols had invaded. Soon after their takeover they further used it for their later invasion of Japan. Sometime after the 1240 AD, the Islamic world heard wind of black gun powder, and then made their own recipes. (The History.) It was used for the first cannon in battle and was basically equivalent to explosive powder. The cannon and use of gun powder reached Europe around the same time as the Islamic World. The debate will go on for however long the existence of guns are intact. The fact of the matter is that criminals do not and will never observe the laws. Regardless of the ceasing of guns or immensely regulated gun laws, there will always be a way to obtain one. So maybe owning a gun is good for the public so that one can defend oneself against criminals, or the absence of guns will reduce gun related crimes, nobody will ever know because things are changing constantly. Of course, society will never go back to swords but it’s one’s choice to keep a gun in the house that your family lives in. It’s one’s choice to purchase a gun and carry out a crime.
