Gun Control There are new laws and regulations being made all the time in the United States. Politicians think that by making these new laws it will fix their current problems. This is the case right now with the problems they are having with gun control. There is another side to this as well, if well behaved citizens want to carry a concealed weapon they can and this could help prevent bad occurrences from happening. If the right people carry guns it would make for a safer community. Gun control, in some places can help a lot by limiting the amount of people that can purchase firearms. “In the fall of 2000, for example, HCI sent a letter to its membership contending that the 1993 Brady Handgun violence prevention act resulted in a drop in gun deaths from 37,776 in 1992 to 32,436 in 1997, the latest statistic available. (Brady) this just shows that gun control prevention laws can work in some areas. These areas have the laws in affect to make it harder for people to buy guns and purchase ammo for their weapons. Guns do kill people if they are put into the wrong hands. People should want more gun control in places with high numbers of people so they don’t have to worry about the dangers of firearms while living there lives. Some people should not be allowed to purchase firearms. People should have to do take a physiological screening to prove that they will not go crazy while owing a gun. This would help in a lot of places because it would slow down the process of purchasing a firearm to a bad person and hopefully stop them from getting a gun. A survey was taken to see if guns were more of a self defense weapon or a scare tactic for intimidation on people. “Even after many of the firearm victimizations reports were excluded, the data show that more survey respondents report having been threatened or intimidated with a gun than having used a gun for self
