Gulliver’s Travels While reading the novel Gulliver’s Travels written by Jonathan Swift I noticed how Jonathan Swift uses a lot of satire or sarcasm over war and social classes. I found a couple of examples to show the use of satire or sarcasm Swift used in this essay. When Gulliver is traveling he finds many different kind of worlds but they all have some kind of issue towards war. Gullivers first journey was found on the land of Lilliputians. He was traveling on a ship when the ship hit a rock. He swam to land but when he was awakened he found himself tied down and surrounded by little people. Gulliver was informed about how these people were in war because of a way to eat an egg. In a way, this relates to present times, sometimes our nations fight for stupid reasons. These people got in a conflict about which side to cut the egg open. The Lilliputians cut there egg on the little end while the Little-endians cut there egg on the big end. Gulliver thoughts of these creatures are "Upon the whole, I never beheld in all my travels so disagreeable an animal, nor one against which I naturally conceived so strong an antipathy." Gulliver also is very discusted by these creatures but
