Performance Analysis by Julie Gooddin I believe that in order to be a great Instructor, it helps to also be an inspiring teacher. My performance certainly was not great, rather just mediocre. I have a lot more to learn and perfect before teaching professionally at an acceptable standard in the Fitness Industry. I used the link method and mirror teaching image to instruct the participants. The link method is a good approach as it allowed me to teach moves A and B first. Then moves C and D and link them all together. The mirror teaching image allowed me to watch the participants. Make eye contact with them and build a rapport. After viewing my performance I was able to constructively criticise my teaching methods and noted the following: * During my routine I leant my upper body forward as I thought it allowed me to get closer to the participants; however after viewing, I quickly realised it made me look constipated and certainly was not good for my posture. I plan to improve this by NOT leaning forward and maintaining great form throughout the class. I will also use more verbal and non-verbal cues and loads of positive energy to connect and feel closer to the participants. * I tended to use the same words over and over which got really boring really quickly. To improve this, I will broaden my aerobic instructing vocabulary, and make sure my word choices are relatable to both the exercise and participants. * Cueing is probably one of the most important areas to master in order to be a great instructor. I need to work on both my verbal and non verbal cueing. More so my non-verbal. To improve this I really need to know the routine inside out. As my cueing was a bit off, it affecting the fluidity of the exercise transitions. They need to be smoother so the participants don’t think the class is too hard to follow. Again this can be
