It will discuss how it was unfair to students that were entering college for sports gave minorities an unfair advantage to all, not just non-minorities. This paper will provide examples how the affirmative-action was not working to help everyone obtain a higher education. Many elite universities in the United States have delved into the issue of affirmative-action and the role affirmative action plays during the admission stage. Many universities automatically give minorities, African Americans and Hispanics, up to 230 points on a 1600 point SAT scale. Those entering for sports reasons obtain 200 admission points.
Our country prides itself on encouraging its citizens to better themselves through education. (P) While its priority has been high school graduation, many jobs now require college degrees, making higher education more important than ever. While I understand that every American should be expected to sacrifice during this hard time, just as we were in World War II, I feel that this particular sacrifice would put our country in an even worse state. (S) Our work force will not be prepared to handle nor understand the advancements that we have strived so hard to achieve. College is made to prepare students with the newest information possible, so that we can constantly be improving ourselves and be able continue to compete with the world’s leading nations.
The first reason is because a lot of people want a job that will pay very good money. By going to college, you will have the hands-on learning education you need to start your chosen career. This is a huge reason why a lot of careers require you to have at least a two or four year degree. Another reason why college matters is because it helps students boost their confidence level out in the real world. There are numerous community colleges across the nation, and several undergraduates attend community colleges every year. College Life and Stress Brandon Cathcart Post University Psychology 4/12/13 Abstract In this essay it will compare on contrast stress between regular men and women college students with men and women student athletes. They are both stressed by the same factors, athletes have more stressors; the only difference is what they were tested on. Questionnaires were the most commonly used to get the results from the students. The student athletes had different subgroups due to there being many different methods to get the best results. Each side had a well put structure to get the results.
These factors, proven by transcripts, standardized test scores, and a resume will lead to a well-prepared incoming freshmen class that will excel at their respective universities. Diversity in a college community promotes individual growth, strengthens communities and enriches educational experience. It is my belief that every individual has a unique perspective and experience so that their attachment to a college community would create a mutual learning-teaching environment, adding subsequently to quality education. So, I am an individual who have had lived previously in a diverse surrounding and therefore I can bring a lot to the diversity in a college community.
