Describe an object from childhood that has special significance for you. Gravette 5th grade yearbook is an object from my childhood that holds special significance to me. Most of my young years in school were at the Gravette Elementary School. I made lasting friendships while attending school in this small town. I loved living in Gravette. The town reminded me of something out of a western movie. The teachers were wonderful and I really enjoyed getting up and going to school. When I was in the 5th grade my parents informed me that we were moving to Little Rock. I was not very happy about this move and felt my life was ending. This 5th grade yearbook got me through many lonely nights in Little rock as I reminisced through the pages…show more content…
I loved being surprised on Christmas morning with special Christmas gifts. My favorite part was opening my stocking before my parents got out of bed. I stopped believing in Santa several years before I let my parents know because they always made such a big deal about it. They would always say things like, “don’t forget to lay out the milk and cookies for santa”. I knew my dad was eating the cookies and drinking the milk. He’s crazy like that. Parents make Christmas fun and I had fun watching them act crazy. I know no fat bearded guy was going to come down a chimney but if it got me what I wanted for Christmas I will let them believe anything they want. I remember one Christmas my parents video typed the tree and all the goodies under it the night before. That year they got me and 4- wheeler and videotaped Dad taping a big bow on it. I remember my mom talking about how Dad was going to learn to play the guitar and we would sit around and sing old gospel songs together as a family. My Dad did work hard at first learning some notes but soon life got busy for him and it was put to the side. The spark thou was lit in me. I loved the sound of the guitar and I found I had a real gift in playing. My Mom took me to guitar lessons once a week for about a year and I learned to play “Smoke on the Water” right away on that Acoustic guitar. I was hooked for life. The acoustic guitar has made such an impression on my life that I have written many songs and play lots of music to them. I love the way it sounds and never tire of just sitting in my room and strumming the strings. It helps me feel at peace even when I have had a bad day. Some people are able to get their frustrations out in life with sports or skating or other things. I find myself with a guitar in my hands. It is medicine for my soul. It has changed my life. It has met and even exceeded my expectations. The guitar was the best purchase my mom could ever have made. We were thinking it would change my Dad’s life but instead it changed mine. I am so thankful my Dad allowed me to learn from
