One of the main ecosystem management is to maintain the soil in an organic matter. Different type of technique’s help increase the forage production which it also increase the SOM. SOM is for soil organic matter. Conversion it either be cultivation or native vegetation be part of the grassland that helps with sequester atmospheric carbon. Because it the “dense fibrous root system in the upper layers of the soil, grasses adapt better than trees to make use of light rainfall showers during the growing season” (McGraw-Hill). When we compare different types of soils to the grassland soil they adapt better “to higher temperatures, better evaporation, periodic drought, and more transpiration per unit of total plant biomass” (McGraw-Hill) that is released to the earth. Grassland help with energy flow because it enters the ecosystem by heat from the sun, which grass and plants need to grow. But if the grasslands don’t get there maintains we would have weeds and hard soil that when it would rain we wouldn’t get the moisture and we wouldn’t have water flow. The animals wouldn’t get there vitamins they get from eating grass. There is about a quarter of Earth land that is covered from grasslands.
