Running head: Graduate Degree Paper Graduate Degree Paper Stephanie M. Hargrave University of Phoenix Graduate Degree Paper I will be a teacher. I am a teacher. Above all else teaching is my dream. It is what I want to do all day every day. In pursuing a graduate degree I will become the teacher I have always wanted to be and live my dream. I will be a teacher. New York, where I live, requires a New York State Certification with a Masters Degree. Before I am able to be a tenured teacher. I have a Bachelors of Arts degree already so being here, working on my graduate degree is the last step in becoming a teacher. New York State Teachers New York is a great state to teach. It offers an all new educational system along with teacher preparation workshops based on the k-12 student learning standards. (NYSED, 2009) “New York has more than 3 million students in over 4,000 schools. With large and small cities, rural and suburban districts, New York offers diverse opportunities to teachers.” (NYSED, 2009) I have lived in New York all my life. Except for the four years I was completing my Undergraduate Degree in New Hampshire. I want to teach in New York because of the advanced curriculum guidelines. I have high expectations for myself and my children. I like to see the schools that they will be attending and I will be teaching having standards like mine. Why I want to teach I am the first person in my family to go to college. My family had high hopes and expectations for me. They knew my dream of becoming a teacher since my sister and I were playing school teacher and student when we were kids. I wanted to make them proud and show them that I can do this.
