“GPS-to-Go Takes on Garmin” 1. Analyze the personality and temperament of Joseph Thomas. Personality is defined as the totality of character attributes and behavioral traits of a person. Temperament refers to those aspects of an individual’s personality that are often regarded as innate rather than learned. In my opinion, based on the actions of Mr. Thomas in this particular case study, he has the personality and temperament trait of a rational person. Rationals live in the world of ideas and strategic planning. They value intelligence, knowledge, and competence, and typically have high standards in these regards, which they continuously strive to fulfill. They have a tremendous value and need for systems and organization, combined with their natural insightfulness, which makes them excellent scientists. The scientist personality gives a gift to society by putting their ideas into a useful form for others to follow. However, it is not easy for them to express their internal images, insights, and abstractions. These rational scientist are ambitious, self-confident, deliberate, long-range thinkers. Many of them end up in engineering or scientific pursuits, although some find enough challenge within the business world in areas which involve organizing and strategic planning. They dislike messiness and inefficiency, and anything that is muddled or unclear. They value clarity and efficiency, and will put enormous amounts of energy and time into consolidating their insights into structured patterns. Mr. Thomas shows these signs by liking and accepting the challenge of trying to launch a new series of GPS products into the market and having the product ready for the Consumer Electronics Show that was only two months away.
