By reference to both texts and to ideas from language study, describe and comment on what these texts show about the development of language and style over time The first of these texts is from a souvenir edition of the Manchester Evening Chronicle published on May 1 1934, three days after an FA Cup final had taken place. The second text is from a BBC Sport football bulletin on 17 May 2008,that was continuously updated while an FA Cup final match was taking place on the same day. Despite both texts having the same purpose of being to inform the audience on what had taken place during the matches, and also possibly to entertain the audience, the ways in which they do so are highly different as shown through the varying language used, as well as through other contextual factors, an example being when they were written in relation to the actual game. Both of these texts contain similar semantic fields which are used specifically to entice the target audiences as well as add drama and excitement to bother pieces. Both texts also display various differences in social hierarchy, and how this hierarchy has changed over time, as well as showing differences in how language is used, and how the usage of grammar and lexis has changed drastically.
