While this statements sound so simplistic, it’s really being lost in the world of teaching. While trying to keep up with testing standards and needs of students, we as teachers must make sure that we are not creating ignorant thinkers. As teachers we must accept that we don’t have all the answers and that just like students, we are constantly learning. When Dr. Wayson was speaking, I couldn’t
Each year I set goals for myself, and work diligently toward making them become possible. I do my best to balance the various activities that I am involved in so that I can participate in multiple things successfully. I feel that I am the best candidate for Head Cheerleader. If I receive the honor of being head cheerleader I hope that my sensitivity, diligence, energy and sense of humor would make working with me a
NBT1 Task 1 Classroom Management Philosophy By Rebecca Skeens Introduction What makes a classroom a place of controlled, exciting exploration and learning? What is the difference between an unruly, chaotic, unsuccessful class and a wellordered, well-behaved, successful class? It is the teacher and her implementation of a well-thought out management plan. If left to their own devices, a class of students will develop and natural hierarchy consisting of the ruling few, their lieutenants, the foot soldiers, and the general peon population. This naturally formed structure is not conducive to a cooperative, respectful, safe, learning environment.
Jasmine is a productive and wonderful girl , she is very friendly to everyone that she meets she is intelligent as well. Jasmine tries her hardest in all her subjects. Never gives up and any assignment that is given to her. She always strives to get higher then an 85 as a grade , and if she fails to complete her goal she will get mad and try even harder to get the grade she wants. For instance in her algebra class , when her teacher explains the way to solve the problem or what ever they may be learning that day she would understand it the first time she hears him explain it.
Jonathan Dasilva Professor Andrea Wallet Enc1101 Monday-Wednesday 8:00-9:15 Failure to success Believing that to be a success in life you have to fail is just the beginning because the secret to success is to learn from your mistakes and have character strengths such as zest, grit and self control as Dominic Randolph from Riverdale Country School would agree. Learning from your failures will not only make you a better person but you already experienced the worst part so that means you know what not to do to have a better outcome. Having character strengths will make you as solid as a rock because you’re a foundation that cannot be shaken. Learning the mistakes and having character strengths will guarantee you to be a force in this world that cannot be stopped and the main character strengths are zest, grit, and self-control First, zest is how you approach life with enthusiasm and energy. If you don’t get excited for anything then how will you push yourself to improve and be a better version of yourself?
They stress day and night over these overrated tests, like previously stated channeling out the imagination, curiosity and good will. Besides being an imprecise measure for students, they use them to judge a teacher’s performance as well, essentially used to either reward or punish them. Standardized test are not helping us very much right now. In conclusion, the usage of standardized tests should be discontinued or by the very least lessened. These tests are not helping people, it’s initially having a negative effect on students and teachers.
“The extreme situation Card has constructed to isolate and abuse Ender guarantees our sympathy” (1) Kessel is trying to explain how Orson Card is trying to demonstrate that through all of the challenges that Ender has makes us feel sympathy for him. I agree completely with Kessel because when I was reading the book I felt total compassion for Ender. When the teachers make Ender fight all of his battles alone show just some of the challenges he has to face. Orson Scott Card captures the innocence of Ender and is able to make such a little child feel moral dilemmas parallel with the adult world. (1) John is saying by Orson’s amazing writing skills he is able to have a child face all of the moral dilemmas of an adult and deal with them to the best of his
Erica Goldson Valedictorian Speech Response Erica Goldson brought up a very controversial and very interesting topic about our current education system in the US. She states that students are so focused at memorizing data and getting good grades, that they miss out on the whole idea of learning and being educated. I agree with her, students should be learning and absorbing the material, instead of memorizing for the next big test and just forgetting about it later on. Graduating seems like the top priority in students nowadays, and to me that is just upsetting. And the students who are very talented and are very motivated to learn and be driven in a non-academic subject seem to have a more negative image than the people who are driven by academics.
Yelling is not the right way to teach a child that they just did something wrong. When you explain to a child in a positive yet strict way that their actions were not pleasing, they perceive the information so much better than when being yelled at. Just like with my own children, I always reassured my classroom children that even though they made a bad decision, I still love them. The challenge didn’t come from my own classroom, the challenges came from the guardians. Through our program, we had to have several “workshops” with the guardians each year.
