Throughout history, great civilizations have existed in various parts of the world. Two ancient civilizations are the Nile River Valley and the Mesopotamia. Some examples of cultural and intellectual achievement made by Mesopotamia were the cuneiforms and Hammurabi's Code. Some examples of the Nile River Valley’s cultural and intellectual achievement were hieroglyphics and pyramids. These contributions have had lasting importance in global history.
Synthesis Through Faith and Reason Whenever someone mentions medieval culture, although they may not know it, the high middle ages is usually what comes to mind. This is because at the start of the 11th century the middle ages were starting to show their medieval promise. Things were taking a turn for the good; there was an intellectual renaissance of great philosophers such as St. Thomas Aquinas and Saint Anselm and we also saw the development of such universities as Paris, Oxford, and Bologna. The high middle ages were also the home of some of the greatest architecture that Europe has seen, and with feudalism, trade, and overall happiness of the people at an all time high this is really the golden age of European history. Many people devoted a lot of time and effort into making these times so good.
The astrolabe was invented during the 1400s and was perfected by the Muslims during the Age of Exploration. The Age of Exploration all so known as the Age of discovery was a period when the Europeans engaged in intensive exploration of the world. In 1930, Dr Edward Bach was a medical practitioner, widely recognised in the field for his work as a “bacterialist, specialising in the development of vaccines for diseases” (Nature Care College, Distance Learning Workbook; Bach Flower Remedies, 2004, pg 2). He was talented and internationally recognised for his work. Many of his colleagues were, therefore, surprised when he gave up this work to focus on developing flower remedies. Yet there were a number of incidents in his life that could be seen as steps towards his final role of developing the Bach Flower Remedies rather than it being a sudden and unexpected move.
