From the beginning of my school career, my elders always stressed the importance of education. Throughout high school, I never understood why an education was so important, I often would goof off or not take my studies seriously. While most high school graduates are deciding where to go to college and what to study, I decided to focus on raising a family. When my youngest child turned three, I finally entered the workforce. This is when I realized how important a college education really was.
They also can provide feedback for students on their strengths, allowing them to see for themselves where they need to make improvements. Teachers use rubrics to assess students, they make it much easier, more consistent, and objective. They also help teachers focus better on key concepts. By making a work model (rubric) for students to use students will be able to improve and increase knowledge students will acquire. Teacher can better justify student grades by using a rubric that clearly shows where the student rates according to the rubric.
The pursuit of new found personal goals lead to the University of Phoenix where I will garner the skills, contacts and confidence to succeed in my chosen career. Pursuit of a Graduate Degree My mother always said that I have a hard time doing things that my heart was not into and she was right! I have attempted to begin my graduate degree three times in the past four years. I would go so far as to register, pay my bill in cash and even purchase my books. Then something would happen that would make me change my mind and withdraw.
It pays well, but there is no room for advancement in that department. I have submitted my resume for many positions. This year I’ve been rejected three times or passed over for someone with a degree. For a while I believed this is as far as i will get, but I refused to give up. I decided to go back to school and get a college education, I knew my work schedule would not permit me to go into an actual classroom so i opted for the next best, online college.
I try looking for a job first to take care of my daughter and pay for my finances but that wasn’t successful. I needed to have a high school degree and a few years’ experience. It was a few days before I contacted Student Services at a nearby school and enrolled immediately. My journey has just begun and I never knew the road to success could be so difficult. I had many sleepless nights and so many assignments I thought I would never finish.
The Hopes I Have for College For the past four years of my high school career my teachers and family have been preaching to me about me attending college. And how I need to do better in school so I could receive scholarships in this and participate in that once I got accepted into a college. For everyone in high school it seemed that the ultimate goal for students was to get the hell up out of there and live the college life. So, like everyone else I made it my goal, not having a real reason of my own besides “to learn”. So no, I don’t know why I’m in college.
So I got married at 17 and started just playing the house wife and mom, till it came to me having to find a job. I went everywhere trying to find a job, and it seemed like all the jobs I could get were jobs at McDonalds and burger king. I knew deep down then that I had to come up with something to give my children a better life. It took me about 5 years after my second son was born to actually get my GED. I would go try to take the test and never finish because I felt I couldn’t do it.
Obtaining a college degree is important to me because it would enable me have many opportunities to provide a secure future for my family. I have been unemployed for almost 3 years and all vacancies in the newspaper require at least a first degree. With all those college and university graduates these days it’s so competitive in the job market. Although a college education was emphasized all throughout my high school years the motivation wasn't there until I had a baby. I realized that I was no longer living for myself.
Having a good attitude to work makes the whole placement more relaxed and that is what I have realised when being there. I have realised that working in the same room with the same children helps to realise what the children are like and how the behave. I am developing my knowledge of supporting colleagues by understanding the problems they have and the things they may struggle on and also doing the higher courses will give me a better understanding. D4: I have been effective with communicating with parents by passing on information to them such as they may need more nappies and wipes or the amount of time they have
I want this for myself! For too many years I have walked around with a horrible self-esteem, in fact my whole life. I have had multiple friends return to school to further their education in the last few years. I kind of felt left out, but the time was just not right yet. A couple of months ago, I just knew that the time to pursue my education had come.
