Kaytrina Horton Boehme Comp II 3 April 2014 “It’s Not Easy, But It’s Simple” When your faith is offended what would you do? A movie with the title, “God’s Not Dead” opened in theaters over the weekend. The captivating plot centers on a college student who finds his Christian faith challenged on the first day of his philosophy class by a professor. A number of linking plots demonstrate the drama of faith—both the callous rejection of it and the courageous embrace of it. While the story is fictitious, it is based on a number of fundamental truths about human nature, creation, and relationships. “God’s Not Dead” uses the professor to show the callous rejection of believing in God. Josh asks his professor “How can you hate someone (GOD) who’s dead?” Josh is trying to get his professor to openly admit in front of the class that he does believe there is a God, he just simply hates him. We pray and believe that God exists and are rewarded by him when we do right. But when one thing goes wrong, we turn straight to God and blame him. It’s usually something along the lines of “Why God, why would you do this to me?” If someone is a humble, obedient server to God, then they believe bad things shouldn't happen. If God rewards us for doing well, then why would he allow such pain that causes deep wounds? This is where the hate comes in. People need someone to blame but themselves, so they turn to God to blame. “It’s not fair. It’s God fault. I hate him. I hate God.” People are right, it’s not fair, but was it fair that God gave his own son to die for us? That he suffered for all of our sins? Christianity is faced with abortion because God doesn't make mistakes, but humans do. Other religions face the challenges of wanting to step out of their culture and seek the lord. Christians are also faced with many questions on how we know if God is real or not. Lastly, Christians would say that Christianity is not a religion, but a relationship and every non believer/belief believe that it is a religion.
