Godhead Essay

When referring to the Godhead, many people expect a more familiar term such as the Holy Trinity. Most Christians use the term Godhead versus the Trinity, which is most common in the Catholic religion. I’ll just call it how I’ve learned it. The Godhead refers to being the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one” (1 John 5:7). Although, God is three in one, there is only one God. What would you say you know about the Godhead? First and foremost, God is the Father. “In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven,” (Matthew 5:16). It was no question that the Father mentioned in this scripture is referred to as God. He was considered our spiritual Father (some may refer to him as a spiritual being), but not the father who took place in our conceiving of birth. God’s job as a Father is to help us, Christians, to be the light of the world. “See what kind of love the Father has given to us that we should be called children of God, and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him,” (1 John 3:1). Since, the Father has given us his love, we are then known as children of God. God has proven himself to be our heavenly Father. Secondly, God is the Son, or the Word. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God,” (Genesis 1:1) When God created the heavens and the Earth, the Word was already with him, as looked at later in the first chapter in Genesis, God stated “Let US make men, in OUR image, in OUR likeness. He was obviously referring to more than one being because the terms “our” and “us” are plural. God was in fact the Word, he wanted human image to be a replica of them, which included the Word. “The Word became flesh and made
