“Globalisation has made the world a better place” Globalisation is a process by which people and nations of the world are united through increasing connections around the globe. It is the result of new technology and organisations developed to overcome the communication barriers between different countries created by distance. Over the past 100 years globalisation has increased phenomenally. These days the majority of objects in your household will have been imported from several dozen countries around the globe. Due to the large advancements in technology and increased political and economic relations, developed countries have benefited immensely from globalisation through higher living standards, decreased unemployment rates and national growth and development. But is globalisation working? There’s good argument that globalisation has made the world a better place. New medicines have been invented helping to avoid many life threatening sicknesses, within minutes we can have access to news from the other side of the globe, we can now travel from country to country within a few hours and ship goods from around the world. It has also benefited many developing nations by providing them with food resources, financial aid, education programs and disaster relief. Globalization raises the standard of living in developing countries, spreads technological knowledge, and increases political freedom. Globalisation has done many great things; however, as it continues to increase so do the growing economic problems that come with it. Many critics argue that globalisation is rigged to further enrich wealthy countries and to gain control over poorer countries. Although there are many factors in which globalisation has aided developing countries, some people believe that developed nations are benefiting more than the developing nations.
