Global Water Shortage There is an environmental problem in the shortage of resources on a global scale. CNN once reported that eighty countries are sadly experiencing a dramatic increase in water shortage that threatens the health of its residence and the economy of each nation working to overcome such shortages, while 40% of the world has no access to sanitation and clean water. It’s been said that one of the main causes for the decrease in water supply is due to a dramatic increase in population, where as population grows; individual, agricultural and industrial water demands escalate. World wide demand for water is doubling every 10 years, because of that, water supply cannot keep up with such a demand as populations grow larger and cities explode with an extreme influx in population. Also, in other countries that are stricken by war such as Darfur, their water and air is extremely polluted with all the chemicals that are released by weapons, and it’s unfortunate because they to are also dealing with a major shortage in their water supply in addition to the pollution of the air. This means that Darfuris in addition to not having potable water to drink or to cook with, neither do they have clean air to breathe, those environmental issues are forcing its residents to seek refuge in neighboring cities and countries. The quality of good drinking water is deteriorating in many areas of the developing world because 95% of these countries are still dumping raw sewage into their waters. Climate change is another issue to discuss because it has the potential to worsen an already gloomy situation with higher temperatures, and rapid melting of winter snow packs, so fewer supplies will be available to farms and cities during the summer months when the demand reaches its plateau. This type of situation typically results in an uncontrollable chain reaction that is difficult
