Carbon dioxide is a heat trapping greenhouse gas. It gets “released through human activities such as deforestation and burning fossil fuels, as well as natural processes such as respiration and volcanic eruptions” (Global Climate Change: Key Indicators, 2014). An increase in carbon dioxide means more heat is trapped thereby raising the Earth’s temperature. Global surface temperature needs to also be monitored. Not just one area but globally!
Modernity may cease with global warming as half the biggest companies are oil companies, and oil is the essence of life. Deforestation and the effects of global warming on our forests and trees are far-reaching and quite evident. All our planets physical features are changing rapidly. And McKibben repeats himself on purpose to get his point across: the planet we knew is no more, we live on a new, more complex and harsher
Global Warming Louis Clemens HUM/111 11/20/2011 Katie Newbanks Global warming has become a major concern over the last century. The world is much hotter now than the past. Many reasons are to blame for this global temperature increase such as fossil fuels releasing C02 emissions. C02 emissions are released from coal, oil, and natural gas burning. Coal, natural gas, and oil are burned for energy in many ways such as cars and power plants.
Global Warming!! Global Warming is the increase of the average temperature on Earth. As the Earth is getting hotter, disasters like hurricanes, droughts and floods are getting more frequent. Global warming is very heart breaking and is becoming a serious problem in a negative way. It needs to come to the end and the only ones that can stop this epidemic is “us”.
Even the extensive evidence that high amounts of greenhouse gases do have an impact on the rising temperature many still think all of this is part of the Earth’s natural cycle. During the last century temperatures have increased on a global scale, known as global warming. There has been a sharp rise in average temperature being 0.7°C between 1900 and 200. Scientists believe that this rise in temperature is mainly due to human factors and the increase of industrialisation and the revolution. These industrial activities have raised atmospheric gases such as carbon dioxide which contribute to greenhouse gases.
Veronica Torres Mr. Bontrager October 26th, 2012 The Great Climate Flip-Flop= In todays society people do not know what global warming really is. People think all over the world that global warming is worse than it is, or not really important. According to www.merriam-webster.com, “Global Warming is a gradual increase in the overall temperature of the earth’s atmosphere generally attributed to the greenhouse effect caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide, chlorofluorocarbons and other pollutants. ” Through many years of research, it has been proven that this has been around for many years and it has been effecting us in a lot of different ways. William H. Calvin, PH.D, has published a book about his studies and his research that he has observed in the past years.
We then, can assume the reason for the increasing temperature was resulted from industries, over-powering energy with coal during that specified time period. Manufacturing produces massive amounts of carbon dioxide along with other greenhouse gases, resulting in warming the whole planet, hene causes climate changes. Thus, it can be concluded that humans have a strong correlation with the increasing temperature and climate changes that are happening
Hot as Heck! Many terrible things have affected the global population such as holocaust, Rwanda Genocides and the bubonic plague all taking thousands and thousands of lives, but there’s a problem that is much bigger that is threatening our planet as a whole. We all unknowingly face the issue of global warming and add onto it on a daily basis, but how so? There are numerous amount of ways that we do so, nearly everything we do is directly fueled by fossil fuels or coal. Whether you drive your car to work, turn on your light to illuminate a dark room or just watching television, you are burning using up energy that is being processed at a coal plant.
Methane is a more active green house gas than CO2 but is less abundant in the atmosphere. Nitrous Oxide is a strong greenhouse gas produced by soil cultivation with the use of commercial and organic fertilizers and fossil fuel combustion. Finally Chlorofluorocarbons are synthetic compounds of industrial origin that are used for the destruction of the ozone
Temperatures range from 70° F during the summer near the equator, to -195°F in the winter near the poles. Average daily temperatures rarely exceed -80°F. This massive swell in range of temperatures makes inhabiting the planet very challenging. As displayed from the video in my presentation, scientists are already hard at work trying to conquer this task. With the burning of extremely harmful greenhouse gases, we could stand to solve this problem by doing what we already do to pollute our own planet, just in a much more helpful scale.
