Frances Jimenez Ms. Gregory English 4P, Period 3 10 May 2013 Global Warming: Humans vs. Environment Today there have been many changes in the Earth’s atmosphere along with drastic catastrophic events occurring around the world. Scientists have been studying the change of the Earth’s climate changes intensively trying to evaluate the causes. Although the causes of the earth’s climate changes have not been confirmed, it is to believe that human activity along with natural environmental factors is the cause of global climate change better known as global warming. Environmental factors contributes highly to the substantial cause of global warming by the natural burning of our forest as well as other disasters like volcanic eruptions, while human activity plays a minimal role in the global climate patterns that have been occurring over the years. Global warming is the rise in the average temperature of the Earth. Another factor that goes hand-in-hand with global warming is the greenhouse effect. This effect is the natural process of the warming of the atmosphere in which the solar energy absorbed by the earth’s surface is reradiated and then absorbed by particular atmospheric gases. In other words, it’s a layer that protects us from the cold universe. The gases consist of carbon dioxide, water vapor, methane, and various others. Excessive amounts of these gases is what causes the rise in the Earth’s temperature, mainly coming from the increasing levels of carbon dioxide Human activity is said to be one of the major causes of global climate change. These activities include of driving, flying, and using electricity when not needed. These types of activities burn fossil fuels which contribute to the thinner lining of our atmosphere and allowing more heat to enter Earth. This is abominable because disrupting our atmosphere can cause nature to be off balance.
