The intoxication model suggests that individuals will not use rational thought while intoxicated which leads to the addiction model which states that crimes are committed so the addict can support the habit (WSSAC,2009) The systemic model states that crime occurs when the participant of the drug trade sales the drug. For instance, the use of drugs influences criminal behavior while the distribution of illegal products is a crime. Last is legal model. In this model the individual choices to either abide by the laws that have been enacted to address drug use, possession, and distribution or the person can choice the path that breaks these laws. The war on drugs has become top priority for justice members.
Massive loss of lives from war, epidemic, disease, and murder led to a struggle to maintain the values that were drivers of the culture. Above internal issues was the arrival of white society which began to strategically break down the structure of Native American communities by targeting their political system. Another distraction at this time was the growth of alcohol in Native American society and it was a problem in many high ranked officials. Leaders such as Red Jacket, Hendrick Aupaumut, Young King, Logan, Skenandoa, and Handsome Lake were all notorious drunkards, which showed poor leadership and hostile environments. Drinking not only took a toll on leaders but also on the society as a whole because money for meats, vegetables, dry goods, and hardware was being spent on alcohol.

1920’s Paragraph In the 1920’s America underwent significant changes politically and socially, experimenting with increasing government control and influence upon its people. One such was the government tried to gain more control and influence the people was through the implementation of Prohibition. Through Prohibition they banned the manufacturing, sale, and transportation of alcohol. With this, they hoped to reduce the consumption, leading to the reduction of crime and slacking on the job, while simultaneously promoting traditional values onto the citizens. While Prohibition was a fine idea in theory, it ended up turning the average civilian into a common criminal.
