I'm sending you some points about gift giving. Nowadays, it is customary to celebrate joyful events with gifts giving or exchanging. The act of gifts giving can be fun and exciting. Actually we express our thoughts and feelings by giving gifts, which is a way of showing that you care and love them. however, certain unspoken rules of etiquette that should be followed. The first one is when we should give gifts. The second thing we should consider is what kind of gifts we should give. Besides, in china, do not give knives and scissors as they symbolize breaking the relationship. You should also avoid giving clocks because the phrase “giving a clock” sounds like “hoping someone die” in Chinese pronunciation, but it does not apply to watches, just clocks. When we are choosing gifts, there are two factors we should consider. One is the situation. While if you are just invited to a personal party, a bottle of wine or flowers can be your choice. Of course, a small cultural gift from your country is usually very appropriate, make certain your gift is packaged nicely, with a nice card attached to it; If someone has just moved into a new house, it would be appropriate to give a vase, as it sounds like peace; if someone opens a store or starts a business, give the bamboo flower as a gift, wishing their businesses grow like bamboo. 2. The gifts that are offered do not need to be expensive - the art is in the giving, not the gift itself. With that said, many people may feel embarrassed if offered very expensive gifts, and may feel bad about expecting them. The best gifts are the small yet meaningful ones where only the giver and the receiver will understand it's true meaning. 1: Place the gift in a shopping bag, irregardless of whether or not it is wrapped.
