At the age of 28 church released his first album, Sinners Like Me. Sinners Like Me was described by Todd Sterling as "cool country-rock hybrid that is far removed from the lameness that is usually associated with the 21st century country music scene" (AllMusic.com). Eric Church is the living embodiment of that old outlaw sound. Carolina, Church's 2nd album, would be released 3 years after his first and would help build the foundation to how he is perceived today. Church's ability to write songs that create feeling inside of someone; whether it is the feeling of happiness, or nostalgia, or sadness, is what I find so damn impressive.

The very sad mood of the lyrics tie back into the theme and Holden’s character because throughout the novel, the reader discovers how sad Holden’s life really is. I certainly can’t relate to Holden about all the death he has encountered in his life because I haven’t really lost anyone especially close to me. However, I can relate on some level to how lonely he his. I’ve had those type of days where I feel like I’m the only one that understands me. It comes and it passes, but I’m able to survive just fine.

This book will horrify, disgust, and inspire those who read Dave’s journey through the dark insanity of his mother. The outside world knew nothing of his living nightmare. I would definitely recommend this book because it shows the true emotion that he went through. However, this book has some very descriptive details on the abuse his mom did to him, and if you know you can’t handle it, then don’t read

She is in tune to his suffering due to the fact she focuses on her own grief. Coral’s soliloquy is possibly her most important scene. It reveals that her son was killed at war and that she is unable to surpass through her grief.

From the start, Goodman Brown shows conceit, and up until the very end Brown pays the consequences for his weaknesses. Brown shows conceit when he leaves Faith, his wife, behind in order to test his own will to resist evil. Faith, of course, is a metaphor for Goodman Brown’s faith in humanity as a whole. Brown is willing to leave his faith behind for the mere test of his own will; his over-confidence is blatant at this point. Of course, Brown is able to make excuses, such as “…after this on night I’ll cling to her skirts and follow her to heaven” , yet despite his excuses, the fact still remains-Brown is willing to give up his faith to test his will to resist temptation.
