Genetic Changing the Human Body Essay

The Mysterious World of Genetic Engineering DNA is the blueprint for the individuality of an organism. The organism relies upon the information stored in its DNA for the management of every biochemical process. The life, growth and unique features of the organism depend on its DNA. The segments of DNA which have been associated with specific features or functions of an organism are called genes. What if you could change the “blueprints” of something; is it safe, does it work, and are there any limitations? It is called genetic engineering, is it the start of something far greater or something that will change the world for the worse? Firstly, DNA is what makes you, you if we changed ourselves then it cannot be safe. Genetic engineering raises many ethical problems. Some of these problems include cloning. The first type of cloning was exhibited by Dolly in 1996. The death of Dolly in 2003 posed many questions about the safety of genetic engineering and cloning (Genetic). We do not want to end up like Dolly the sheep. Although genetic engineering can be beneficial with genetic engineering, it will be possible to change the genes to make a disease not as serious. The amount of diseases will dwindle and the most relevant diseases will not be as prominent anymore (Genetic). Most scientist agree with Dr. John Fagan Professor of Molecular Biology, Maharishi University of Management; President, Genetic ID “When genetic engineers disregard the reproductive boundaries set in place by natural law, they run the risk of destroying our genetic encyclopedia, compromising the richness of our natural biodiversity and creating ‘genetic soup.’ What this means for the future of our ecosystem, no one knows.” Most scientist in the field of study agree that it is too treacherous to muddle with.
