This helps when working towards a degree of higher learning. To manage time effectively a student needs dedication, patience, and planning. The students entering into college have to set goals for themselves for academic success. The student will set short and long term goals for themselves. Examples of short term goal turn in work for each class on time. Long term goals might be to keep a grade point average of 4.0, and be able to maintain that grade point average until they get their bachelor’s degree. When setting these types of goals, a student would need to set a date for when they except to reach this goal. Writing down these goals will be beneficial to the student. Being flexible is another component a student needs. Being flexible will help the student reach the goals they have set for themselves. Reading comprehension does not come easy for every student. It takes a lot of practice, patience, and focus on the student’s part. There is a method called SQ3R, this method help the student break what they are reading down into sections. The work sheet for SQ3R reading is survey, question, read, recite and review. Doing this work sheet allows the student to go back over what he or she read and reviews it for further study. In order for the student to really understand their assigned reading, they should find a quiet are, one with little interruptions. It is also helpful for the student to eat or have a snack before they start reading. This will cut down on distractions and they will be able to focus on the reading they have to do. I find that taking notes as I read helps me to retain what I read. Doing this helps me to commit what I have read to memory.
