“Negatives of Gay Marriage” Wayne State University Coming from a country it’s normal that men hug and kiss their men friends and the same for women. I have never found it weird because in my society being gay is not an option. Back there, it’s weird if men hug or kiss women that are not their sisters, wives, or moms. All that changed when I moved here, I saw how people from same sex would never kiss or give each other a warm hug, that’s because society consider that gay. It’s still hard for me to understand homosexuality and that’s why I can’t accept it. I shall never disrespect any person just because he or she is gay, but I don’t think they should get the rights that God had gave to us -straight people- and one of these rights is marriage. Marriage is the union of a man and a woman who makes a permanent and exclusive commitment to each other of the type that is naturally fulfilled by bearing and rearing children together. There are many negatives to gay marriage that make it even harder for me and society to accept it like, gay marriage is incompatible with the beliefs, sacred texts, and traditions of many religious groups. Marriage should not be extended to same-sex couples because homosexual relationships have nothing to do with procreation. Gay marriage will lead to more children being raised in same-sex households which are not an optimum environment for raising children because children need both a mother and father. Gay marriage is incompatible with the beliefs, sacred texts, and traditions of many religious groups. The Catholic Church, Islam, and American Baptist Churches all oppose same-sex marriage. Expanding marriage to include same-sex couples may lead to churches being forced to marry couples and children being taught in school that same-sex marriage is the same as opposite-sex marriage.
