But, after June 12, 1994, the day of his wife’s and her friend’s murders, his life would never be the same. O. J. loved the game of football since he was a young child.

He led the Hokies to the National Championship Game against Florida State in 1999 and finished his college career with an amazing 20-1 record as a starter. His outstanding speed, arm strength, and ability to elude tackles led the Atlanta Falcons to pick him first overall in the 2001 NFL draft. Vick's reward for turning pro was a six-year, $62 million contract that included a $15 million signing bonus. Vick made his NFL debut at San Francisco on September 9, 2001 and saw limited action.

People used to eat animal testicles before competing in sporting events thinking it would better their stamina and give them better endurance. Through the years doctors have changed it chemically into pills and injections. It affects every sport today, even our youth sports. In the early 20th century Russia was using steroids in the Olympic games giving them the upper hand in weight lifting.

D’Angelo Franklin Sunday, September 7, 2014 MBA 671-D1B4 Week 2 Assignment Under Armour is a sports apparel company that was founded in 1996 by a former college football player named Kevin Plank. Plank was disgruntled with having to change constantly because of perspiration during physical activities. He created a clothing line made with synthetic materials that would absorb the perspiration and help the body to naturally cool itself (Thompson, Peteraf, Gamble & Strickland, 2014, pg. C-51). Plank did his initial testing on his very own football team; after success among them, he ventured out and finally was able to convince an equipment manager that his product was better than the generic cotton t-shirt.

He was a American physician, university professor, research scientist, and inventor. He earned his undergraduate and medical degrees, and became a professor of medicine and nephrology at the University of Florida. But his biggest contribution to the world of coarse has to be the invention of the greatest sports drinks ever in my opinion “GATORADE”. He invented it in Florida in 1965 when the head coach of the Florida Gators football team told him about his players being extremely dehydrated during practice because they were in very high temperatures and humidity.
Nathan Cox HIS 122 Paul Tibbets Paul Warfield Tibbets Jr. was born on Febuary 23, 1915, in Quincy, IL. His father was a salesman in a family grocery business. His mother, the former Enola Gay Haggard, grew up on an Iowa farm and was named for a character in a novel her father was reading shortly before she was born. The family moved to Miami, and at age 12 Tibbets took a ride with a barnstorming pilot who dropped Baby Ruth candy bars on the Hialeah race track in a promotional stunt for the Curtiss Candy Company. He was thrilled by the flight, and though his father wanted him to become a doctor, his mother encouraged him to pursue that dream.
Quaker was acquired by Pepsico namely for Gatorade which supplanted Powerade as the chief “sports drink” in the portfolio. Frito-Lay has come a long way from its roots from when, in 1932, Elmer Doolin made Fritos one batch at a time and sold them locally out of a café in San Antonio while an entrepreneur named Herman W. Lay began his potato chip business in Nashville. In 1961 they merged into the Frito-Lay, Inc. These brands now account for nearly 60% of the U.S snack chip industry. They have fought against many threats during their history including a notable battle with Eagle brand potato chips in the 80’s.
Carolyn Davidson, a graphic design student from Portland State University, created and designed the brand’s trademark “Swoosh” for BRS. While revamping the company’s new image, they wanted a famous athlete and University of Oregon graduate, Steve Prefontaine to endorse Nike. Prefontaine was primarily a long-distance runner, who once held the American record in the seven distance track events from the 2,000 meters to the 10,000 meters. Along with the new branding came an innovative sneaker technology, Nike Air in 1979. During this time the company completed an initial public offering (IPO) and became a publicly traded company.
