It was only a matter of time before those Filipino inmates, known for thrilling online audiences with their dance moves, took on the pop world’s latest hit. At least a thousand prisoners at the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center in the Philippines performed a group dance Saturday to Psy’s massive song, “Gangnam Style” — instantly going viral with more than 1.2 million views on YouTube in four days. The club banger, which sits at No.2 on the Billboard Hot 100, has spawned numerous tribute videos online by people obsessed with the flashy South Korean singer. His video for “Gangnam Style” has racked up more than 300 million views on YouTube, and has given Psy, real name Park Jai-sang, major airtime on U.S. television. The song includes moves that mimic riding an invisible horse. Prisoners at the Cebu detention center, wearing orange uniforms, hoofed their way through the routine in heavy rain.
