Student Survival Guide Sherri Carter Gen 105 A Student Survival Guide is a useful tool for the first time student. This guide will help the student pursue their academic goal. This guide will serve a road map and show the student how to accomplish their desired goal; it will also help them with academic success. This paper gives examples of topic areas of discussion assigned for this paper. The student survival guide is a good tool for the first time student at Axia College.
This can be skimming through the book for key words, or looking at the table of contents. This gives you an idea of some important topics to concentrate on. Secondly, mentally outline the reading. This is, discovering main topics, and finding the supporting facts for them. The next step is while you read, focus on what is written.
This process gives you a more structural way of learning. Basically getting you to dig deeper on whatever business you are working on. Once you have this deposited in your remembrance, when questioned on what you comprehend about the subject you’ll be ready with not only the understanding of the project, you will be able to distinguish what the problem is. The mechanisms of choice are PowerPoint, the Internet, dictionaries, text signs and written responses. Kinesthetic Learners: Individuals who prefer this learn better by doing activities, which helps them to experience/practice the concept by attempting to learn. The crucial point to effective learning for them is that the instruction gives them solid opportunities to apply the information. The best materials that meet the requirements of kinesthetic include simulations, case studies, demonstrations and videos. Multimodal: Learners might prefer a particular mode or a dominant mode; multiple modes are frequently used in learning situations.
Reflection on action is as described above where one contemplates in retrospect. Reflection is largely about self development t as it adds to your knowledge and also challenges beliefs and concepts that you may hold. Reflection is only effective if one follows through with action. 1.2 Analyse the rationale for reflective practice It is human nature that we generally learn from experience, once we have had and experience we naturally observe and reflect on it, through this we form concepts/beliefs and then we test this out in new situations, this goes round in circles each time our view/concepts are being changed as we experience new things. In this cycle self-observation and evaluation helps to understand one’s own actions and to refine one’s practice on an ongoing basis for the benefits of the communities being served.
enjoy figuring out my own problems and not relying on others to do it for me. I take pride in figuring out what other struggle to do. I was surprised by a few area of my report such as my blind spot and Crisis. I didn’t realize that my actions could cause people upset and pain because I’m so focused on my good motive and realizing that developing a practice of mindfulness and reflection could help reduce becoming exhausted. Ethical Lens helps me visualize who I am as a person and puts my actions and goals into one report.
The most important thing is to use what habits work best for you to remember the information. Reading out loud, though makes you read slower, is a habit that helps you to retain better. So, when you are not in a time crunch, go downstairs and read out loud. Just remember before you start to read use SQ3R!!
